For roughly 35 years, Herb Crawford owned the Lonaconing Silk Mill in Western Maryland. It is the last intact silk mill in the United States. The mill has been subject to vandalism over the years, and the roof is in dire need of replacement. It is a unique part of American history that should be saved. Sadly, Herb passed away in 2018, and this vital building is in danger of being lost. |

![]() After spending 6 weeks covering Hurricane Sandy, I was fortunate to meet a surviving family that was staying in my hotel. We became friends, and for the next seven months, I covered their journey to return to their home a few miles away. This is their story. Merit Award winner, Best Shorts Competition, December 2013. |

Wow, awesome weblog structure! How lengthy have you ever been blogging for? you make blogging glance easy. The entire glance of your site is great, let alone the content material!
I’ve been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found
any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me.
In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the
net will be a lot more useful than ever before.
Extremely wonderful publish, extraordinary. its really diverse from other posts. Many thanks for sharing
Your photos and videos are fantastic! The two videos show such personal and very unique stories that are good for us to hear. They are touching, emotional, and endearing not only because of the people themselves, but also because of your creative portrayals. Fantastic!
Thanks Foster!!!
liz,
I just spent the morning looking at your photographs of abandoned schools. I could not shake the feeling that I had once been in many of these empty spaces as a child, remembering them as they once were, freshly painted, thinking about all the hopeful children who have passed through. And time, always time. Wonderful and unexpected images. Thank you.
